MatchIT - a supplementary programming training for newcomers with technical background. If you are new to Sweden with a completed or even uncompleted technical education, preferably IT-related, we want to present an opportunity for you to learn programming at Lund University. The job market for IT professionals needs more talent!

MatchIT

There is a need for skilled professionals within the IT field i all parts of Sweden. This is the reason why the European Social Fund funds MatchIT, a multiorganisational project that aims to better match of newcomers technical background with the needs of companies in Skåne. Region Skåne is the owner of the project. Lund University will provide an intensive university level education within computer science, an education that will also validate and complement your existing competence. Ideon Science Park together with Arbetsförmedlingen will match you with a company in ther region that need programmers and provide a 10 week internship programme.

AIM

This training should better match your technical background with the needs of companies in Skåne.

WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION?

The education is 32 weeks and will include:

  • Programming (17 weeks, see content below)
  • Culture and communication in the workplace (2 weeks)
  • Swedish for Academics one evening per week (~3 weeks)
  • Internship at a company in the region (10 weeks)

THE PROGRAMMING TRAINING

Programming Intro

  •   - Orientation
  •   - Programming Concepts in Python

Programming and Databases

  •   - Java, ER, UML, SQL
  •    - Algorithms, Data Structures, OO Concepts, Testing

Advanced Programming

  •     - Java GUI Framework, OO Design and Modeling
  •     - JUnit, Android, Efficient Algorithms

Database Technology

  •     - MySQL, ER, UML, Web Development

Non-relational Databases, XML, JSON

Agile Development Methods

  •    - Agile, XP Programming, Version Managment
  •    - Automated Testing, Refactoring

WHO CAN APPLY?

Newly arrived graduates (need not have completed the education) who have studied: Post-secondary school, technical education, preferably in IT, mathematics, electronics, mechanics, physics (or similar)

  • Requirements: Good knowledge of English
  • Requirements: High motivation to complete the program
  • Knowledge in Swedish and/or programming is a plus.
  • Registered as a jobseeker with Arbetsförmedlingen
